Bringing back the older threads with the search feature. LOL. I have a 1973 CCM 531 reynolds steel. It has a 5 speed on it now. I want to go to either an 8 or 9 spd. I have a newer rear wheel with a 8spd on it. I just use this wheel for fitting purposes after cold setting. Also since its friction shifting is it possible to get all those gears to work before upgrading the rear der. and shifters?

Thanks
