70's Alan Bikes value

I am very interested in Alan alloy (anodized) road bikes, manufactured in the 70's and 80's.
What should I pay for a first quality item (Campagnolo components Nuevo record or Shimano 600) ?
Many thanks.

I believe ALAN's have a date stamp at the top of one of the seat stays (when you find a frame). I would stick to a Campy gruppo following the Italian heritage of the frame. Another frame to look out for is an ALAN with carbon tubes. How much should you pay? That depends on what you might have 'gathering dust' in your shed that you could add to the frame or whether you would want to buy a complete bike. Personally, I think ALAN's are very desirable and have great 'ride' qualities. They seem quite lively yet comfortable. Not much weight saving due to the thickness of tubing. I would like to have a sparkling ALAN to ride on a sunny day in my garage. I would expect to pay $1000 to $2000 for the right bike.
