Dawes Bike

Saw a Dawes road bike at the local St. Vinnys. To big for me! Someone has taken real good care of it. Is it a keeper? S and H to the east coast approx. $180. haven't priced it yet!!! So it could cost a lot for just a bicycle!!! Comments?

Comments on Dawes

Hi,
I sold a Dawes, which I had refurbished, a pre-1976 Dawes - They have a red torch on the head badge.
The lugs are very ornate. Then I used red fingernail polish to highlight the lugs turned out nice! Sold it to a guy from Texas for $200. If you email me, I can show you the finished lugs. The lugs and the Reynolds tubing are reason enough to pay that little bit of shipping. Jim

Hi,
I am sending you an image of the highlighted lugs. Just got it under the 100Kb limit!

Just my 2 cents on a Dawes; One of my high school teachers rode a Dawes. That was back in '77. I saw him on the bike trail day before yesterday. He's still riding that same bike!!! He seems to have gotten a new helmet though! (that old Bell V-1 Pro was looking a little tattered)

Well, maybe. Dawes made a whole range of bikes; some of the low end ones were nothing special and would not have Reynolds tubing. The OP needs to provide more details.
