Raleigh Tewenty

I was at my grandmas house helping my uncle rebuild his airplane engine when I saw 2 Raleigh twenty folding bikes. Today I went back over and looked in the garage and there they were one that had "Folder" written where it usually says Raleigh on the chain guard and then said Raleigh where it usually says Twenty. I'm going to get it tommorrow morning. The other one is a twenty and is dark red. It has a few problems with the crank being bent in so it hits the chain but other than that it's good. Anybody else have one of these? I know Sheildon Brown has a few. He gave me some ideas for the red one as far as making it a fixed gear. But the Folder I think I'm going to keep it mostly stock because it's in such good condition, it just needs a good cleaning and new tubes/tires.

Raleigh Twentys are really cool bikes! I see one, that was converted like a road bike, every time I go downtown.

I assembled plenty of these back during the boom. My neighbor has one of the folders, in like new condition. He mentioned selling it and I tried to get a commitment/price from him for another forum member, but it's been months and I've pretty much given up. There is a specific forum for Folding Bicycles where you may get more responses.

There's lots of information about them in the Folding Bikes Forum. I almost bought one myself, so I read every single posting. I decided against it when I realized that I wouldn't be happy until I had replaced every rusty steel part with aluminum and I would end up spending way too much money on a bike that I might not ever ride.
