Help finding year and model of Eddy Merckx frame
I saw some suggestions in another thread about finding out about the manufacturing date on a frame and am looking for that info for my Eddy Merckx frame. I suspect it is late 80's-early 90's. I am in the process of refurbishing the bike into all Campy Super Record, and several have asked what model and year is the frame, to make sure what parts will fit, etc.
Any leads on how and where to look?
TIA

why not just write to the Merckx factory?
pictures would be good in helping to nail down year
as would date codes on the original components.

I have no idea if the components on the bike were the originals, as I bought the bike used from a racer/bike shop mechanic back in the early 90's. When I bought it, the bike had kind of an odd mix, Shimano 600 Ultegra drive train and brakes with Campy seatpost, bottom bracket, Cinelli stem and handlebars, Mavic wheels, etc.
I guess if nothing else works, I can just pop in with the serial number next time I'm over there.
But maybe someone out there knows a faster, easier way.

If you're in the US, you need to contact customersupport@gitabike.com (Gita being the importer). Just mail them the serial number, and let them know you want to know the year + make. They typically get back within a day or 2.

I was happy to receive a response from Gita today to my question about the age of my Eddy Merckx frame, and other info. I sent in the serial number and they replied that it is a 1985, but cannot tell me which model, has an Italian BB, braze on FD and a 1 in threaded headset.
Thanks for the help with this, pointing me in the right direction, and thanks to the folks at Gita.
