Raleigh Centenary
Hi All,
I've been looking around in the web and in local shops recently for a new bike. One shop, a small building in a row of houses, had as a display a bike that I thought I'd never see again. It was a gold-plated Reynolds 531C Raleigh Centenary launched by Raleigh in 1987 to celebrate its 100 years. I was told that the bike was only offered to dealers back then so they must be rare. I was also told thyt they may sell it to "stick it on e-bay". I'd be sorely tempted. Anyone else know of this bike?

My local Raleigh dealership has one. Number 10 of 100 produced. It hangs on the wall of the small bicycle museum in his basement. He bought it from Raleigh in 1987 and it has never been ridden. Simply stunning!
This isn't the one he has, but here's what one looks like for those who've never seen one.
