I found this little beast today, a dustified 50cm pink Bertoni Corsamondiale outfitted with a Shimano 600 gruppo and Mavic MA40 rims. Couldn't pass up that price so in the trunk it went.
I usually call bigbossman when I come across an Italian bike, but I know he'll approve as it is small and pink.
Also, I found a old set of Stingray-type handlebars. They have a cut groove that loops around them on each side, are nameless, but the stem says Polygon H86 on it. Anything special about these bars?

Nice find BlankCrows... Too bad you couldn't come by and drop that Bertoni off at my place on your way home. Clean it up and then bring it out my way!

metalchef87,
I had a Continental just like this one when I was in college. It was ripped off with in the first year. I replaced it with a Peugeot PX-10 type E which I still have.

Just picked up this Takara Professional on Sunday. Judging from the serial number, it's a 1979. SunTour Cyclone derailleurs, Sugino crankset, Kuwahara headset. I haven't been able to find much information online about the Takara brand and/or this model, but it rides wonderfully.

Real men ride pink bikes!!
I just picked this up off of CL last night for $50!!? It's in really nice condition! The alloy bits are a little on the hazy side, but will polish out without too much trouble. This bike was hardly ridden. Original wrap, tires, and unworn San Marco suede saddle. There's even a paper label on the back of the seat tube that reads Schwinn Bicycle Company 3246, the same number that's stamped on the headbadge. I'm VERY tempted to 105 and aero brake this bike. I have an era correct group from an 87 Tempo. Yep, I have a set of white aero brake hoods ready to go, hehe.
1987 Schwinn Tempo in pearl pink. I will have to buy nail polish to match the paint!

In my neighborhood, just riding a pink bike would be enough to endure physical harm if it was the wrong time of day. I think I'll skip the pink helmet and white shorts, thank you very much. My normal black helmet will still be on my head.,,,,BD

Got my commuter. 1997 Trek 420. $81 plus a new saddle and tank of gas to pick it up.
It's not vintage and it's nothing special, but it should do the job nicely and I won't mind locking it up. Hopefully I'll be able to sell those aerobars on CL for the cost of a new chain and cables.
Anybody want to go for a ride in Houston this weekend? (That means you BD)

I passed this one on the way home from work tonight and had to snag it for ten bucks. 1990 Schwinn Crosscut. A little neglected but totally rideable as is. Needs some surface rust removal. Size: 21.5"... it fits me perfectly. Seat post not stuck. Double-butted Taiwan cromoly. Replacement chrome fork. Wolber hard-ano presta rims w/stainless eyelets on Joytech hubs. Exage400LX group - BiopaceSG. STI push-push levers seem to work. Blackburn MTNRack in great shape. The only thing I can't tell is if this was a regular hybrid or if it falls into the "touring" category. Anybody know? If there were pannier mounts on the fork, that would be a giveaway, but the fork is not original.

I have a 93 Criss Cross and would consider it an early hybrid. Good riding bike, but very heavy unfortunately.

I started a thread on this bike yesterday though it also deserves to be place here. I got it for a whopping $50. Also a Campy SR crank set with dust caps in mint condition AND with the matching complete BB for $37. The seller even sent me the box.

Incredible! Did you resort to hypnotism or laughing gas? Is that Team a 753? Looks to be about 60cm. Mind boggling - great catch!

That's two catches. The crankset would cost more than several complete bicycles that I've purchased. (maybe even a couple of them combined)

I had a nice stroke of luck this evening! I bought a Giant Cypress DX last weekend to get a set of rims and brakes for the Shogun. Not a bad buy for $45, I thought at the time.
Tonight.. I looked at the Prelude, and then the already partially scavenged Cypress, and a light bulb went on over my head, lol. I popped the cranks off the Cypress, and measured the BB. It was only a couple of mm's off. I got out the BB tool, and went to work. I then walked over to the Nishiki International carcass, and pulled the 105 cranks off. I slipped the arms on the Prelude, and used the allen bolts from the Giant. Perfect fit, and almost the exact clearance as the original crank/BB! So, now the Pink Prelude has a low mileage cartridge BB, and a set of biopaced105 cranks. The Giant is the catch that keeps on giving, hehe.,,,,BD

Okay, I know you've been dying to see what a ten dollar 20-year-old Schwinn hybrid looks like fresh off the side of the road. You can't see it in the picture, but the chainstay protector says "Schwinn Team Issue 21 Speed"
I'll be scorching the local bike paths on this hot Team rig!!
