AlpineStars anyone?
I just picked up an AlpineStars Alpine Kross cyclocross frame and fork. Never saw or even heard of one before. Pretty nice looking frame, semisloping top tube, 700C wheel size, straight blade fork with Breezer-style fork ends, looks to be 1990-91 era. Anyone know anything about these, or who I could contact for some history?

Alpinestars is an Italian firm that makes motorcycle gear: gloves, leathers, etc. Didn't know they were making bicycles, though.

My coworker has an Alpinestars bike that has a really neat frame. I cleaned and tuned it up for her a few months ago...like I said, a really neat frame!
That cross frame is amazing!!!! What a nice looker.

Just happened across one of these.
Deore DX,
Barcons,
Crazy weird drop bars,
Late 80's Paintjob
Rides nice and shifts smooth, but something has to be done about those bars during the rehab me thinks.

My old AlpineStars AlMega XT
I still have the XT groupset. The parst are on my Panasonic e-stay. The aluminum AlMega frame is death. It died from aging, from sitting around. Really hadn't seen much use. I think you're better off with your steel AlpineStars. Neat bike.

Huh. Well, they make nice boots and gloves--I like mine, anyway.

Ok, so I've learned something here...
(1) These bars are alot cooler than I first thought.
And (2), it appears I should have no problems finding a home for em should I decide not to adapt to their feel.
Thanks for the input all.

They were meant to be run a good half a foot higher up than that. The whole dirt drop concept is that the drops be close to the height that the tops would have been, you can then use the drops as the default hand position.

I have an Alpinestars looptail aluminum MTB frame with Evolution (1-1/4") headset cup sizing.
It's bare aluminum, and pretty old with it's 130mm dropout spacing. I bought it as a leftover new frame, and built it up with a suspension fork using headset cup reducers.
It's not here right now or I would take a picture.
