I actually used the original screws (with the new headbadge) which looked very nice with the Coppertone paint. The finish had worn away revealing nice patina on the brass. The new screws had a silver colored finish and were twice as long as the originals (less than 1/16 inch?). If the rain stops by this afternoon I'll take it outside for some better pictures. I still haven't ridden it. Weather, personal, and work related issues have all conspired against me.

A Very Brief First Ride Report:
I had about 1/2 hour of opportunity to ride my '66 Paramount for the first time this morning. The brakes need adjusting. They don't stop well at all. Is it Campy brake blocks or do they just need to be set better? Shifting is very crisp. I do like the barend shifters. I need to work on the Record FD and possibly move the Phil Wood BB inward on the drive side. I have slight chain rub on the FD when in the big chainring. I believe I can move about 1-2 mm before worrying about the granny hitting the chainstay. Here's a real outside picture. It was still rather overcast this morning so I had to use the flash which you see glinting off the crankset. This is at the end of the driveway next to the bog grass. (I don't care for garage door backdrops.) |
It's a drop dead beauty Bob!
The brake blocks are probaby old and hard. I would think about some Scott/Mathauser/Koolstop replacements. That will probably go a long way to improving your braking, but then there are many who claim the Campag. brakes of this vintage were never all that great to begin with. Mine work fine with Mathauser blocks, but then, I'm not descending in the mountains. |
classic man, real old school road machine, dig the lugs YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

That is really a beautiful bike. Glad you're getting some time on it before the weather turns bad. |

I like Kool Stops. I use bolt on ones on my Traveler. Which ones would I order for these Campy Block holders?
