bb question with 8spd cranks....

Greetings. So while I am waiting for my 83 Tommasini to be repaired (yeah, I went into an underground parking garage with it on top of the car....brutal), I am putting together a bike to ride in the meantime: recently purchased '79 rauler frame, 8spd chorus group, dura ace wheels. I just have a couple questions regarding the bb. Simply my bb is English threaded and rauler is italian. I am considering 3 options.

1) Find the Italian model of the chorus cartridge bb (double chainring).
2) Find an older Italian cup and cone bb with a spindle that will work with the cranks
3) Rip the spindle out of the current cartridge and find the rest of a cup and cone bb.

These are my questions:

1) Can I purchase any double chainring campy cartridge bb from 1994-2006 and have it work with my cranks?
2) Do older (1980s) double chainring campy spindles work with the 8sp chorus cranks?
3) Can I use the spindle in the cartridge and just find the older style bb minus the spindle?

Based on mere preference, I would rather go old school on the bb (pre-cartridge) if I can. Thanks for your help!
