You may want to ellaborate on how much Campy stuff and what version. Condition of everything would help as well.

"I don't know the exact year but my guess is the late 80's. It's a mirage
sport. The frame is quite light, most likely chrome moly tubing ( I'm not
familiar with the french decals). Has a nervar BB with Campy victory
crankset . FD and RD are campy (early chorus maybe?). Hubs and rims are
Revol aero, really slick looking wheelset. Brake calipers and levers are
weinmann 500. Headset, stem, and bars are non descript exect for the
Motobecane emblem on the bars. Seat is an Italia red suede. I hope it's
still around for you to check it out this weekend!"

My Moto knowledge gets a little fuzzy into the 80s but I don't think any of the Mirage variants used high quality framesets though I could be wrong. If the decal has numbers like 1040 or 2040 or similar it's a hi-tensile frame and pretty mundane. Vitus 888 would be good. Ask the seller about the numbers on the decal.
In any case sounds like the bike has upgraded drivetrain and wheels as I doubt any of those were OEM.
Worth it? If it's a Vitus frame yeah, but you're at the upper end of the price scale to be sure. Some will tell you they found better for 10$ at a garage sale and while I don't doubt them it's not as easy as driving down the street looking for a clean, quality used bike sitting in a front yard.
It's better than the current market will give you for the same money but I'd definitely negotiate. Sounds like the guy is flipping it himself or he'd know more about it.

Price seems high to me. Not an expert, but here's a brief description of the Moto line-up at Classic Rendezvous. Mirage is listed as second from the bottom (entry level). Did a Google search and found someone who claims he bought a Mirage Sport new in 1981 for $185. As far as the Campy stuff, I'm no expert, but I think older Victory and Chorus were entry level (doesn't mean they don't function well, just doesn't make a bike worth $250)

It's without pedals so likely the seller knows what he's doing with it. Here's a page from a 1984 Motobecane catalog (I think the only Moto catalog online) with the Mirage Sport model. Looks like the color is called "Sand". And if it's Motolite tubing then start negotiating.

Looking at your pic, which to be honest I really didn't do before, I doubt it's a late 80s bike. You'd have aero brake levers and indexed shifters. I can't see the shifters but I doubt they're the early Campy Syncros (not necessarily a good thing even if they are).
In the 70s the Mirage was indeed second from the bottom but they played alot with the names into the 80s and it might, or might not, be higher in the lineup. I agree that MotoLite tubing means low.
Paint scheme with the contrasting headtube looks earlier Mirage to me.
Regarding the Campy, Chorus has always been good. Some of the other 80s groups such as Victory and Triomphe are not so well regarded.
Get a good look at the bike and negotiate. The guy picked it up, kept the (probably) upgraded pedals and now wants to make a few $. You should be able to haggle.

Go look, make sure there are no issues and it fits, and start negotiating (if you like it).
And if you do buy it, don't dare show it here until you've done something about the tape, housings, and saddle.
Ewwwwww..........................
