Moulton on EBay

A 1980-ish Moulton (from dates it looks like a real Dave build) is ending very soon on eBay. I bid on it but the price went way up over my means.

Bikes: 1969 Peugeot U08, unknown MTB circa 1980, '93? Merckx MX-Leader

I put it on my watch list already. No intention of buying this particular bike, but I like these bikes generally.

It will be interesting to see what the winning bid is.

This particular bike item number 1330073501972 was in really nice condition and went for $770. I have been tracking eBay sales of my bikes since November 2005 and this was the second highest price I have seen. A Fuso Lux model in pristine condition went for $879 a year ago.

I would prefer it if the prices stayed low, partly because I need a 52cm. for myself. I would hate to see a situation where they become collector’s items and people who would love to have one to ride cannot afford one. These frames were built to be ridden, not just looked at.

Dave, I think if there's a place on earth where people understand that sentiment, this forum would be that place.

Here is the Fuso Lux I mentioned in my previous post. I wrote a blog about it here.

Both are beautiful frames. I try to keep myself off ebay these days as I keep finding another bike I'd just love to add to the collection.

57 cm with 170 mm cranks.

Strange crank size for that frame.

Not really. I've purchased several 57+cm frames with 170mm cranks. I've just started moving up to bigger cranks (though I could probably use bigger than the 172.5 I bought)
