Kuwahara Caravan TO1

Got a good deal and doesn't need much work, just need to change that pink tape ASAP. Super smooth ride!

- Deore LX components
- Ishiwata EXO quad butted tubing
- 700C wheels Mavic rims and Deore hubs
- 3x7, but got spacing for more modern drivetrain
- Shimano RSX STI shifters (probably not original)
- 3 mounts for water bottles, fork eyelets, spare spokes holder
- 45cm chainstays

Even considering it's somewhat low-end. Seems to be in very nice original condition so easily worth that money for the nostalgia! You can never go wrong with the Suntour V-series controlled with Barcon's either. Should be a fun ride and it will standout vs all the white, silver and black bikes being made today. If it were local to me I'd own it now.

Buy it and enjoy the experience

Bikes: 2009 Giant TCR Aluxx SL, 2015 Bruno 700c Tour, Canyon Urban 8.0, Giant FCR 2018,

I like all things old, and have a liking for Japanese craftsmanship, they simply care about what they produce, i started with Japanese guitars having been appalled at the lapses in quality of expensive instruments made by certain US producers... I found that companies like Greco, Burny, Tokai and especially Navigator were making guitars by hand in better wood, and keeping to vintage dimensions of classic guitars of the 50's and 60's...

So when I started riding bikes again, and being in Asia I was on the look out for classic Japanese stuff, alas in Malaysia not much around, so I went Giant as they were available and reasonably priced... then one day I'm in a bike shop buying a new tube when I spot what looks like an old bike in the corner collecting dust, apparently the shop owner had brought the bike from Japan personally to test the water. But the locals wanted only carbon and new.. The bike I was looking at was a Bruno, with classic 70's design and in steel... he was so interested to get rid of it I think I could have got it for free, he accepted my first offer of about $700.... I'll let the pictures do the talking.

I think it was maid in 2014-15, as they have changed since. Yes not old, but classic. Sorry for not having a drive side picture.

Please more info- that is an interesting bike to say the least.

- Cantilever brakes, but no fork mounts and no double eyelets on the rear.
- Significant fork rake
- Stem shifters
- Double chainrings
- interrupter brake levers
- ergo drop bar

Quite unique as a classic or as a modern steel bike.

Do you know what company actually made it?

This is my old Nishiki Olympic, which rides nicely. The crank is a Sugino, not a TA.

Actually, I posted the link because the poster above is from Malaysia & it was a Malaysian website that had good illustrations of current bikes similar to what he got. Bruno Bikes has a facebook page also. I don't usually do social media, but gleaned that Bruno is Swiss designed then made & imported from Japan. They are popular in Asia & some U.S. Bike shops are becoming aware of them. Don

Link is old (May 2014) Looks like the 2018 models are just hybrids and mini-velos. Don

The article was in Malaysia, and the contact given was the Malaysian importer, but they actually only brought in one, and local riders did not take to the retro design, I now have the one the importer brought in to Malaysia.

[QUOTE=mstateglfr;19908850]Please more info- that is an interesting bike to say the least.

The company appears to be a small Japanese company that specialise in retro bikes, mostly minivelo. Build quality is very good, the frame is made in Taiwan. interrupter brake levers from the UK, all other componants are Shimano. The companies website is brunobike.jp

This year the website is in English.

For the money they are excellent bikes, and although the biking fraternity in Penang didn't seem interested, wherever I stop on a ride people will come and look at the bike.

The Swiss connection appears to be an ex rider, but I can not decipher the name from the autograph on the bike... Ill put a picture up later.

Bikes: TRIMMED DOWN THE HERD

Nothing special but my latest project is this Keno. I like the color. Unfortunately I can't keep it as I'm out of space so it will have to go not unless I can make space:

Sanki Pacer

I ended up buying the bike and let with sit until I had some free time to dive into it a little bit. Serviced the hubs and BB. New cables and found some old shiny Cateye handlebar tape on ebay that matches the saddle. Rides nice! I was going to sell it to a buddy, but I think I'll keep it.
