Vista bikes
Hi,
Does anyone have or know where I can find some info on a couple of Vista bikes which were given to me, one is a ladies Vista Sophisticate, the other is what I believe to be a Vista Torino (like a stingray with a shift lever on the top tube). Both say Vista by N.I.D.A., of which I can't find any info on other than it was made by Ntional Independant Distributor Associates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Bikes: 1972 Columbia Tourist Expert III, Columbia Roadster
Most Vistas were built by Columbia for NIDA.

Go here to find out when they were made. (serial number should be on the left rear drop out) A few Vistas have lugged frames, I think those ones were built in Japan.
The Columbia built Vistas were Columbia's best bikes, easily rivalling Schwinn's bikes (and usually a couple pounds lighter too).
If you could get a picture, that'd be great.

I have a lugged Vista frame, 56cm or so. Very nice quality, made of Tange tubing with Suntour chromed dropouts and derailler hanger. Most likely Japanese built.

I bought a Ladies' Vista Sophisticate on ebay for 99 cents in my area a couple years ago. I think it's got some ironic name appeal and would be worth about $60 if you wanted to resell it.

I've got a lugged Vista I recovered from the trashheap and converted to a fixie. There's a pic and a little more description here: https://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2006/may/MattMartin.htm. Changes since then: Brooks saddle, eggbeater pedals, repainted. Lots o fun.
