Girlfriend's new Benotto
We went and picked up this beaut today:
It's a 1984 Benotto (model ?) with Columbus SL tubing and all early 90's Dura-Ace and Sante components. It has Mavic and Ambrosio rims laced to Dura-ace hubs. I'm guessing this bike had all Campy Super Record components originally, since that's what the headset is. The background is that a bike racer in Austria had this custom made by Benotto for him in '84, then he sold it to the second owner in 2005. They are good friends, and the guy she bought it from rode it for a couple of years before now. He changed the seat and seat post to lighter, more modern parts. Looks to be a very nice ride, and should last ten times longer than any "new" $450 bike.
