Freecycle ads
I subscribe to our local freecycle, which is meant to keep useful stuff that someone could use out of the landfills... In the Wilkes-Barre FreeCycle list, it is pretty rare to see anyone offering anything, instead they usually are asking for things... And people are getting pretty specific.
This one is not cycling related, but it struck me as WAY too specific to be asking on Freecycle.
So, I decided what the heck, I have given a few things away on FreeCycle, so I have now posted my wanted ad. For a 22 or 23 inch 1979 Blue Schwinn LeTour IV... or as an alternative any lugged steel touring bike with a 32" standover height.
I'm not expecting a flood of responses, but it will be interesting if I do get something. Before I had my first vintage bike, I did request any old road bikes, and my only response was from someone who had a Huffy mountain bike. Well intentioned, but off the mark.

Hi I am looking for a bridesmaid dress from David's bridal in a size 20
or 22 or 18. The style number is F1286 and it is the Victorian Lilac
Color. Please email me. Thanks so much!

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.
I'll bet wahoonc could come up with that bridesmaid's dress. I doubt that it would be free, though
.
Do you think I would get offered anything if I asked for any unwanted mixtes?
Good luck, LD...

Our freecycle is the same way, more people asking for stuff than giving. I have a friend in Florida and their freecycle list seems to work the way it is supposed to, with most people offering stuff. They have gotten some nice stuff off of it and Craigslist down there. I have gotten rid of some old truck stuff thru freecycle. So far my best trade was thru the Airstreamforums. I traded a roof mount satellite dish/antenna combo for a Dutch bike
I won't see the bike until probably September, but it was worth it to me.

The Miami and Kendall Freecycle boards downright - ahem - stink. Downright greedy.

Not an outragous "Wanted" - but what in hell is wrong with the school? Can't afford Xerox paper? Doesn't add up.

Hello everyone,
I am a teacher and would greatly appriciate anyone donating xerox
papers to my school. Currently, we are short of xerox papers to be
able to make copy and print assignment for our children.

I have given away computer stuff and some other odds and ends. I have never recieved a response for anything I have ever ask for. On the other hand, about a year and half ago a friend of mine posted and ended up getting a Schwinn Tandem 5 speed in pretty good shape.
I have seen a few people posting requests for houses and cars.
