Check out these Oakley's

I liked mine when I bought them in the 80's and they were expensive then but this is unreal. With all the look alike sunglasses out there or for what people are willing to pay you'd think Oakley or some other company would bring back the design. Check out the price.

$200 with six hours left! Chump change...

I'm sure there are vintage sunglasses collectors who laugh at NOS bike part auctions

Those were my shades of choice back in "the day"!!
I had a red pair, a black pair and a white pair. Just so that they matched the bike I was riding that day!
But the next pair of shades were Revo's. And I lost my 4th pair about a year ago, and of course they don't make the Venture frames anymore!

If I was going to drop over 2 Bills for shades, I'd probably get Revo's again.

But those Oakley's were "Da Kine",....back in "the day"!

Gawd, I have a pair of those... I found them in the saddle bag of an old Ross I bought, along with some tools and seven dollars in change (the bike was fiteen bucks, Ishiwata 024 and Shimano 600 arabesque, for the curious). I tossed the sunglasses in a box and god knows where they are... but I've still got them. Maybe I can trade them for a Rene Herse or something...

Ive never owned a "real" pair, but had switched up my buddys "real" pair on a ride once, neither one of us felt like they worked any better (or worse) than my $10.00 black market knock off ones! LOL! I figured, at the time, that if I had $250.00 to blow itll be on my kids! LOL!

They are next to indestructable, unlike the modern shades. I closed the trunck of my rental car on them while on my honeymoon. The next morning I noticed them sticking out and when I opened the trunck there they were perfect and w/o a scratch! They do look rather dorky now.

Does anyone know an after market company making shades that look like these?

.....may as well just go buy a set of replacement ski or snowboard goggle lenses and screw fold-out arms from cheapie sunglasses on the sides.

My small-time racing team was partially Oakley-sponsored. Got a couple pairs apiece back in 89, and wore the heck out of them. Threw them away only a couple of years ago, after finding them rotting in a pile of old parts and whatnot.

If only.

I dont know of a company that would place their name on an obviosly stolen design? The ones I had were, as stated in my post, black market knock offs, every detail copied, down to the "OAKLY" logo by some company over in China, and sold on the street corners of just about every major city in the U.S. and China (and other countrys Im sure) I know they were sold openly in N.Y. and Philthadelphia every body I knew had a pair, we were what a lot of people call "poor" so we couldnt afford the real thing, but when my friends and I look back at those times, we see that we were actually a lot wealthier than most! even those with money! LOL!

Just for information, a used set of these same glasses sold for $400 two weeks earlier.
