Trek 720 almost done...
just waiting for the toe clips to come out of the oxalic acid bath, but couldn't wait to shoot a few pics and take it for a spin. Just thought I'd share....

Mariner Fan, Glad you like it. I kept it as original as I could; only replaced the tires, bar tape, chain and shifter cables...everything else got a full cleaning and refurbishing. The pics don't show the paint dings, rust on the cable guides, and assorted scars from the last 20+ years. From a couple feet away it really does look nice. and personally I always prefer a vintage bike that has kept it's "character" over a new powdercoat when the original paint is even remotely salvagable.
Well Biked, Thanks. I believe the cantis are Shimano XT's...here's a closer pic.

EDIT: Just realized I need a cap on that straddle wire...

The vintage XTs are probably my favorite vintage cantilever, I think the gran compe 982s I have are slightly more aesthetically pleasing but you can't beat the XTs for ease of adjustability and function.

Thanks for posting that, those are indeed nice cantis. I'm looking at possibilities for a touring frame I have, I may look into those on ebay-

Beautiful bike and I really like metallic Burgundy. Very nice. I'll bet it rides like a dream.

Thanks for the tip. I'm a bit tall for that bike. Yours is the bomb. Love the burgandy color.
