So does that mean Paramounts are the "Rolls Royce" of vintage lightweights? :p

More like a Cadillac, seeing it was built in the good old U.S. of A.:D

The best part about those 25 inch frames is that I can ride them without pain! :D

No pain no gain (remember that one?)! I felt the pain as my winter legs tried to hoist my winter weight up these NH hills yesterday. It was my first ride out on the Paramount on the 27 X 1s laced to the Campy high flange hubs. Very nice and very fast--- hit 42 mph. But was I glad to have the granny and the big 30 tooth rear for the climbs!

Hi,
You wound up out bidding me. I saw the feedback and was leary. And since I already have the same exact bike in the same exact color I stopped bidding. Lots of great parts on that bike though, and I would have bought it for that reason alone. Anyone out there have any 60's Paramounts or can direct me to links with pics, I am trying to do some further research. Also I already know about the Geo sites light weight data site and in my opinion it is lacking. Thanks Bicycledreamer

The geocities SLDB site is a spare time hobby for Bob Hufford, and while not complete, is the result of a lot of hard work by Bob, Eric Amlie, and others.

It is a tremendous resource for those of us interested in sixties and seventies Schwinns.

Hi Bicycledreamer, I have seen your name on many an auction bid list. With the new "blind" bidding thing on Ebay, you have no idea who you are bidding against. Welcome to Bike Forums, lots and lots of nice folks willing to share a lot of great information. I have learned lots here and made a few friends. Hope you stick around! :D

EDIT:Went back and checked my feedback. I bought something from you but can't remember what it was. The feedback is too old to tell. Hmmmmm....that will drive me nuts trying to remember.

Nice Paramount. And isn't that light blue the color Schwinn painted the Paramounts it gave top the '72 Olympic cycling team?

I'll echo Scooper's sentiments and words of appreciation. I'd like to add that Bob Hufford's website probably has more written information, more photos, and more scanned Schwinn documents, covering a 20year period, than any other website. Bd, if you would like to write a definitive illustrated history of 1960s Paramounts, have at it, but don't forget to footnote all your references to Bob's SLDB. Best of luck on your work, but don't forget we are a happy, easy going, always helpful, and rarely critical, crowd.

Maybe we can all make it better

Hi Scooper,
I gave it some thought afterwards and it actualy is a very good site and I reference it often. The only thing lacking is actual pictures of bikes, which to me is one of the most important ways of bringing everything together. The thought I had after my last post was maybe all of us with bikes pertinant to the website could forward pics of those along to Bob, I know just on this forum alone we could properly come up with most of the missing links.
Best Regards Glen
