About crank

Hello everyone i have a quesion, im trying to restore and uo8, the crank looks rusty my question is should i change it and what kind or brand is recomended?

The rust on the crank only matters for cosmetics.Try removing the rust with oxalic acid,it's of course easier if you can remove the cranks but not necessary.And if you change it I would go for duraluminium cranks,Stronglight was the brand on the better Peugeots.But than you need to change the bb also.But I live in a place where old Peugeots and Motobécanes and good beer and chocolates are plenty and cheap even with a strong euro.

You've got a couple of obstacles that you'll need to overcome if you want to change those cranks. They are cottered cranks so you'll have to replace the bottom bracket if you want modern replacements. That would normally be a fairly simple matter except that your bike has a french threaded bottom bracket and you can't get a modern replacement with french threads. There are a few solutions, but unless you are worried about the weight of the cranks, I'd just clean them up and keep using them.
