dating miyatas

Does anyone know how to figure out what year a miyata is? Pictures of the one I am curious about can be found here: (it's the first post on this page)

Bikes: 1992ish Davidson Impulse, 1981 Apollo Gran Sport SS, 2006 Salsa Las Cruces, 2010 Soma Double Cross

T-Mar will tell you everything, but that 110 appears to be from around 1986 or 1987 - maybe later. Serial numbers on Miyatas start with a letter, which I'm pretty sure indicates the year. My 1000 starts with J, which makes it a 1981 model...1982 would be K, 1983 L etc, etc...
