Dang dings!
I picked up this chrome Voyageur 11.8 a couple weeks ago and didn't notice the ding in the top tube when I was inspecting the bike (rats!) And boy does it stand out on this chrome frame now that I've noticed it. Don't know how I missed it!
Anyway, it will be getting new decals soon and I'm tempted to paste the V in Voyager over the ding. It's only an inch back from the current decal location and it would be a perfect match. Note: the current decal has slipped upwards a bit over time. It really should be in line with the ding anyway.
So the questions are:
Would you cover the ding with the new decal, or
Would you install it in the correct position, or
Would you let the new owner decide, as this bike is too large for me and will be re-sold when finished?
(if I do end up covering the ding I *will* disclose it to the prospective owner)

I just picked up a Trek 531 Reynolds a few weeks ago with a dent in the top tube a little bigger than that. Like you I didn't see it but it really doesn't do anything to integrity of the frame. I sold it to the first person who called and she didn't even care about the dent.
