NOS Hoods
Does anyone know if it's worth it to buy NOS hoods? I heard that they can become cracked more easily due to dried out rubber, similar to how some NOS leather straps will snap in half soon after purchase.

if youre talking about brown campy record brake lever hoods, the ones with the shield logo, they usually go for about 70$+ on Ebay a pair... so if you can get some for less, take them :)

I'm actually talking about Dia Compe Gran Compe hoods for $14, but if they're going to disintegrate like some Campagnolo ones do, I don't want them.

Does anyone sell replacement hoods for non-aero levers ? The gum hoods on my Weinmann levers are on the way out.
Or do most people just replace the levers with new aero ones ? |
I know there are those who poo-poo me, but I've been putting ArmorAll on my hoods since it came out. Still have the original Campagnolo hoods on my 1984 Cinelli after years and many, many miles...

Modolo ones seem to fit pretty well and are easy and cheap to get, i hear.

I bought a pair of Modolo hoods, one of which shredded on me first time I tried put it on my Super Record levers. Sigh. The next one I coated liberally with dish soap and it went on ok.

Anyone know of replacement hoods that will fit old Shimano 600's? I'm refurbishing my '85 Trek 570.

Oops, fat fingered it, it's a 520...

I put Dia-Compe hoods on some old Shimano 600 levers and they worked just fine. Bought 'em new about 7 years ago. Don't know if they are still available.
