Shimano Arabesque/Sugino campy copy cranks?

I got an old shimano/sugino KHS tange frame yesterday. It caught my eye because of all the fancy engraving on the shimano components. These would be known as the arabesque right? The front derailleur and shifters all have awsome patterns. Sadly somebody stripped the rear derailleur. The brakes are shimano with the little star. The crankset really caught my eye. It has painted green on the inside of the crank arms. Did sugino do this or was this a custom job? The cranks pretty much look like old campy. Anybody have any idea what the bolt circle diamter might be? The seatpost is also sugino and it has green paint in between where it was machined out. I'm debating on putting them up on ebay or using the parts.

Do those old friction clamp on shifters work well? I don't care about on the fly shifting, I kind of like hearing the chain slap the freewheel and with a flick of a finger, bam right in the sweet spot!

As you probably know by now, pictures are essential in the C&V section...
Now, for the cranks, if they are Campy clones like you say, then the BCD will most likely be 144mm. If this is the case, then a measurement b/w two adjacent bolt holes, centre to centre, will give you somewhere around 84.7mm. Give it a try.
In terms of the green paint, I have no idea...I need pictures!!!
Yes, clamp-on friction shifters can work really well...dependent on the operator - if you've used friction shifters before, then yes, they will be good...
Cheers,

Leigh

My Soma Competition came with all 600 stuff. I like the scroll work , some people dont. The bike shifts real smooth. You dont here the chain slap the cassette , more like a nice dependable click.

sounds like shimano 600... and so the BCD is 130... If they are sugino cranks, such as super mighty or and of the mighty line they should be 144.

Edit: You do not explicitly state that the cranks are sugino, but from reading your posts it seems that are. Often the mighty cranks came painted, green, blue, black, red... I have dark blue set myself... and I have a couple of the posts. Sugino SP-H. I really like them, you probably won't get much for the post, so you should keep and use it. Same with the cranks because they are nice. I am not sure what the ebay value of them is, but if they serve your purpose you should use them because they're ebay value is probably below their replacement value if you were to buy new cranks to replace them with.
