Info on this Gitane

I am trying to identify the model and get a rough idea of the value of this Gitane. I purchased it new around 1984 and was told at the time it was new old stock. It has Reynolds 531 tubing and came with Campagnolo Nuovo Record components. Today, it is in "good" condition. (Some pitting on the chrome plated fork and some scratches on the paint) I think it might be a super corsa but I am not sure. Any ideas on the model and possible value.

Not to send you away, but try asking at the Gitane USA forum. They would know.

Look through the late 70's early 80's catalogues there and try to match up the components and decals. It's a little tough, because sometimes the French used one name for the bike in France and a different one in the US, and some with the same name even have different tubing depending on location. But yours with 531 and NR would be on the level of a US Super Corsa, or the French Olympic or upper Tour/Trophy de France.

I was going to say Team Replica, but it doesn't have the internally routed brake cables.

Lotek knows '80s Gitanes.

Bikes: top end gitanes and some funky ones too

just by looking at the decal on the head tube, looks like a 80 - 82 team replica or super corsa. theres no mistaking the team blue paint. 531 reynolds is about right.if the componets r all original . i say about 150 to 300 $$ depending on the way the planets r aligned, how the oil prices r going , world security etc. lol

lofter, when are you going to send a '80-'82 era catalogue (American) to sandman to add to the site?

Yep lots of campy

As I recall, the majority of the components are campy. I replaced the campy pedals along the way but may have them someplace.

Thanks for the info,

Eric

Bikes: Yes

Look at the rear drop-outs:

Simplex = Tour de France
Campagnolo = Super Coursa

Those lugs look sorta tour de france-like.

That would be correct if it was a '70s bike.

My Raleigh Competition has those axle spacers in Huret dropouts. Those look like they could be a shorter version of those dropouts.
