Sturmey-Archer AWC hub
Does anyone know of any bike shops (local or online) that would be able to purchase a new AWC hub from Sturmey-Archer? I've heard that the current availability of all things SA is limited but I'd really like to find one for my 3-speed build. Any info would be great--

Harris has them, $120 though. Could always buy an old bike with one for $50...

You can buy a whole bike from Wallymart with the hub and shifter for about $120... and you get some tires and a seat with it

I strongly suggest that you consider one of the new SA hubs instead. The AWC was replaced by the SRC3 and aebike sells it for $53.99. Sheldon Brown says the quality of the English-made hubs declined in later years and these are much better. The new ones have no neutral position and that was a big flaw in the old design. The flanges are thicker, so you can use modern spokes without washers. I took delivery of an S30 yesterday and it's a beautiful thing. The only thing I didn't like about the hub was the black painted logos, and some paint stripper took them off without affecting the clear anodizing. The old syle shifters work with the new hubs, if you want a vintage look.

If you insist on a AWC, you can get them here:

Awesome-- I had no Idea that the AWC was English made. I'd read the info on Sheldon's site a few times and figured since its 2007 that I'd be getting a newer one made in, i believe, Taiwan. I will definetly be looking into the SRC3 because it looks exactly like waht I want-- 3 speed with coaster, plus its hard to beat a cheaper price and better product.
Thanks
