It may be one, but it certainly has a Japanese look, and an inferior, unbecoming example of a great name. I hope they didn't stoop so low just to make a buck. It would be interesting to know if the "flying C" is engraved in the fork crown and stay tops or just stickers.
I have seen the flying C engraved in forks that were definitely not Cinelli factory forks. Cinelli crowns, to be sure, but it takes more than that to make it a Cinelli bicycle.

I know someone who recently bought a 'Nouvo Super Corsa', and really likes it so far. He is quite familiar with high end frames, and I trust his judgement completely. Cinelli still makes fine frames, so it would seem. My '84 is post Cino as well, but one heck of a nice bike.

I don't know what Cinelli produced in the late 80's early 90's, and that's why I posed the question to begin with. I don't think 'Skinny' has any idea either. I'm not sure they ever produced anything other than a Super Corsa model in that era, as far as a lugged, steel bike, and the bike in question is definitely not an SC.

dbaki, look at their road offerings, not the 'Bootleg' models. The Super Corsa is still pretty much as it has been since before 'skinny' was born. That is the only lugged, steel bike they offer, and it still has chrome lugs! https://www.cinelli.it/scripts/prodot...=EN&IdBici=239

Other folks have said they've seen "price-point" Cinellis like this one. But what doesn't compute for me is that Antonio Colombo is a very fashion conscious person, very interested in design and in producing cutting edge, interesting stuff like the Laser. This bike just doesn't factor into that whole outlook for me.

It is a Cinelli....

Over the last 15 years I've seen close to ten of these framesets shown in this auction. Two of them have been in person. It is definitely not an SC, but appears to be a genuine, lower end Cinelli model.

Unfortunately there aren't very many Cinelli brochures out there to browse through for reference to determine the exact model. The frames that I have seen similar to this one have been in different areas of the U.S. and one in France (it was brand new, hanging on the wall of a bike shop in Rheims). Each of them has had the strange, periwinkle looking color with the same decals. All of them have had the "Flying C" Cinelli logo on both the fork crown (externally lugged on all) and the seatstay caps. The thing that immediately stood out for me was how similar the frames were to that of my old Cinelli Centurion. The lugwork, seatstay attachment, and fork crown of my CC was exactly the same (the crown on this ebay auction bike is different from any of the others that I have seen) as these bikes.

My theory is that they took the design that had been put together for the Cinelli Centurions and continued to build it as a lower end Cinelli model once the CC run was complete.

As for post Cino SCs, they are great machines. I've had an '86 (one of my all time favorite bikes), an '84, and a 1982 (with the drilled lugs and older 26.2 post) that is currently undergoing a restoration. They may not have the reputation or street cred of the earlier models but they ride incredible and are very responsive.

Anyway, keep alerting possible fake Cinellis. There are too many people out there who are willing to market their bikes as something that they are not!

It's back, and advertised as a Super Corsa, which it definitely is not:
