Info on my Bottecchia?
Yup, another info on my bottecchia bike. From what I have read bottecchia made some really nice bikes but also a lot of junk. Since my frame has no columbus stickers I guess it should be classified as junk but some things about it confuse me. I picked it up from a former racer (pretty good in the late 1980 something, i.e. national level in Sweden) and it was his racing bike. It is very light and much lighter than his miyata 110 which I also bought (it was his bad weather, winter bike). The miyata, although a entry level racer, has double butted tubing and not gas pipes as bottechia junk bikes. The components had been swapped out and the bottecchia was equiped with shimano 105 indexed shifting when I bought it but I got an extra racing wheel-set with it which was campa record laced to tubular rims. Not really something you would have for a junk bike. I guess I could just enjoy it but there is always that itch to know what you are riding. It is currently going as a fixed cross. Here is some very bad pictures:

No, the "junk" level Bottechias are much cruder looking than this example, this is at the very least an Aelle-frame bike, but could be SL. Looks like it has the Shimano adapters on the shifter bosses and Shimano brakes, so that "Gipiemme-equipped" decal does not apply anymore. I think it's a nice one, congrats.
