Latest from the landfill
First up is this Columbia mixte, very much 'before' pictures, as all I've done is ascertain that the stem and seatpost weren't frozen:
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...506/mixte1.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...506/mixte2.jpg The steel rims are beyond repair, but they are laced to nice Sunshine high-flange hubs. A rather non-descript lady's bike had this rather interesting cable-operated disc brake on the rear wheel. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...p506/brake.jpg When I strip the few usable parts from the frame it's going back to the metals hopper, but if anyone wants this brake assembly it's theirs for postage. I have to start hanging out at the dump.

I'll take the brake assy, Top. PM me with postage costs.

-Kurt I'll get it boxed up by next week. Top |
The disc threads on like a track cog and it uses the same reverse-threaded lockring as a track hub. I'm thinking budget fixie here...

The hub/brake I used on the rear of this bike came from a Sears Free-Spirit 10 speed. The FRONT disc was added in '78 and in order to have the caliper on the "show side" of the bike, it did require a lockring. |
