kemmer posted this in Numbskull, I think.
I'm mulling over Schwinn + Centurian (sic), 'customised', 'four gears on the front sprocket and five on the rear', and best of all, 'Price to be announced'.

The guy will email me back, but he won't say anything about a price. His grammar is pretty bad too, so I'm wondering if it's some kind of scam. I just wish I could see how he rigged up 4 chainrings, cause the pictures look like there are only 3.

Unfortunately likely not a scam, just a huge numbskull like the rest of them

I cant figure out the numbskull part. Regardless, I remember back in the eighties when those little dinky inner mountain chanrings came out we made a 4-ring front. I think we bolted the fourth ring to the inner bolt circle on a crank that originaly had a 28 or so.

Kind of hard to tell with CL's low resolution pics, but it appears that there's a large ring outside of the ring that the chain is on. There might be a ring (next to the smallest) hidden from view because of the angle.
IF so, I would surmise he's 1/2 stepping the big rings to give more "road" gears?
Something like 28-38-48-52/3

Bikes: Nothing special, but it works.
There were kits that made it possible to add a fourth ring to a triple crank. One seller called it the "Mountain Tamer". Looks like they're still available. Link:https://www.abundantadventures.com/quads.html

Looks like one of the bike flippers out there is testing to see how numbskullish Craigslisters are - i.e.: Will they be more likely to buy it the more gears it has?
Put a quad chainring on it with a 10 speed rear cluster. That should draw some attention. 40 speeds for $150. Numbskulisters will be pouring all over you like maple syrup.

If this guy is a flipper, he sucks at it. No price, bike model that does not exist, no description of components or frame material, crappy pictures, etc. This is what he said about the price: "I have used craigslist many times before and i feel it is best for me to run an auction type sell. im am starting it out at 75 however if i feel that someone gives me a fairly good bid i will have no problem selling it to the first person."

Bid? Craigslist is an auction? For a bike model which doesn't exist?
I'll have to mull this one over.

I think I figured this out. Freewheel is locked up so the bike no longer free wheels. It is like a fixie. Two rings on front, but, and here is where it gets tricky, since it is locked up, it has forward and reverse. Thus 10 forward speed and ten reverse speeds for a total of 20 speeds.
