Check out my dad's old bike.

Would it qualify as junk? Here is what he sent me when I told him I was "into" bikes. As far as I could find.. this company turned into Nishiki... am i right?

It might operate in decent mechanical form, whether low end or not. Front shifting will probably be your biggest enemy, if you do find mechanical gremlins in this machine. Brakes might be below-par, but may operate well with some grabby pads.

Good $50 Craigslist bait.

The Pletscher rack on the back is probably worth about the same as the rest of the bike...

I wouldn't spend much money on it but if it's operable and you can use it, you're all set. If not, there's always craigslist, but like cudak said, don't expect much more than $50.
