haha, well just make something up then! i need to know what the F this is!!!

oh btw, i stripped the paint and this thing has been soo modified. there is evidence of brazing and bondo everywhere. rear brake mounts, possibly the head tube, definitely the seatstays, etc etc

i'm still totally in love with the frame though

Get me as many photos of the joints as you can. Did you find any paint remnants below?

I agree, I already have a folder on the computer with the pictures of it so far.

here's a small update:

says "Huret" i think

were there once bosses for a brake caliper?
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC_3855.jpg

joints were all blended with filler...and there's a taste of the original green paint.
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC_3856.jpg

kind of a mess of brazing and filler down here

also i was wondering what kind of rear hub setup this is. i was hoping to be able to just thread on a fixed cog, lol. any help on this would be great because i dont understand what is going on with this rear wheel at all. btw its shimano and the wheels are 700c

Uniglide freehub?

cudak888 09-02-07 01:52 PM

Frame shows evidence of having had rear rack braze-ons at one time, which coincides with the rather long wheelbase/slack geometry setup as my modified image of the bike (as it once was) showed.

The forged Huret drops without a built-in derailer hanger is most certainly an interesting - and distinctive - feature. Not common to see a forged drop without a hanger built in.

What threading BB does this have? English, French or Italian? I'm willing to guess English or French. Let me know.

Somehow, the idea of a tourer with a non-built in derailer hanger and originally pained green gives me visions of a Dawes Galaxy, but I don't believe they ever used Prugnat lugs such as these - they also had nutted brakes, if I recall right.

Take care,

-Kurt

Indeed.

To the O/P: The entire assembily shouldn't be removed - only the freewheel cogs. The first two cogs are threaded onto the freehub body. Use two chainwhips - one to hold the freewheel from spinning, the other to pull the cog off.

the Huret dropout originally did have a derailer hanger, it's since been removed along with the brazed on casing stops.

i figured the cogs came off, but couldn't figure it out. thanks for the how-to!

oh and it seems like the bike was green with blue details. i found some blue overspray on the fork and with the green near the seat post.
