3 speed brakes

What is a good set of brakes to upgrade an old English 3 speed? I know some alloy rims are going to help a lot, but I'm wondering about more modern bits (brake levers and such) with more mechanical advantage.

If you are going to stay with single-bolt mounting on the fork crown and the brake bridge, which rules out V-brakes, cantilevers, U-brakes, RollerCams, etc., then I suppose your best option would be dual-pivot sidepulls. If you cannot find any with a long enough reach, your next best shot is centerpulls, such as Weinmann Vainqueur 999s in the long (750) length.

Cool, thanks. I'd probably keep with the center bolt design, rather than weld/braze on the frame, so thanks for pointing out these options.

Weinnman/Dia-Compe centerpulls rock!
