how abut this color combo
Radio flyer Red with a cream color fork and a Honey Tan Brooks and tan Bar tape. I'm trying to locate some red shifter and derailleur cable housing. Trying to find some straight Schwinn script decals, I find a bunch of the curved ones for the top bar of the middleweight and stingray bikes but so far no straight ones in white. Oh yeah I think I'll put one of those fancy downtube decals from the Corvette on this bike too. I'll be using alloy wheels and Panaracer gum wall tires. I think it should look pretty good.

The 27 inch Pasela which is probably not a true gumwall but it looks like it. I have them on my Varsity and they look Tres cool

Dropped the Continental off to the powder coat guy a while ago. Its gonna be RED including the forks. My wife reminded me that I have been yammering about a red bike so why not make it all red and I thought about it for a while and decided she was ( as usual ) right so this thing is gonna shine. With the honey Brooks and the red cables and tan bar tape should be cool. Still trying to figure out all the drivetrain stuff but I'll tool and die it to death and I think I can make it all come together ok. I think I'll see she can do a little pinstriping on it since she has all the artsy ability in the fam. I don't have a steady enough hand anymore to do that kind of stuff.

Red housings will look very sharp if you can get the colors to match. If they don't match, it would be better to go with a contrasting color (black, white, yellow, etc.)

This color is what they call wagon red, for the reason that if it was called Radio Flyer they might get in dutch for copyright infringment. Thats a really bright red so I think the cables I have seen will be pretty good although now that you mention it yellow would really look cool too. I'll have to consult my color coordinating specialist AKA Mrs Stringbreaker and see what she thinks about that.

I really like creme colour like something you would see on a 1930s or 1940s automobile. I think a dark crimson read or burgandy with creme headtube and seattube panel would look smashing with a honey brooks and shellacked bar tape to match. I am not such a fan of tan bar tape and honey. I put it on one of my bikes and the colours were just too different.

When I get the frame back from powdercoat I'll take it around and check it against some of the cable housing at some of the LBS. Whats the story on shellacked bartape I've never seen it. Would it be comfortable? I want this bike to be functional as well as good looking but not too over the top simple and understated so I may end up using the original style schwinn grey cable housing I have some cables and housing on order in case I want to replace the old stuff on my Varsity but I could just as well use it on this bike too.

I have shellaced tape on one. The cloth tape can be a real PITA to get to wrap and lay flat. I used Tressotaur, but I think there are some easier ones to work with. Buy a can of Zinsser shellac at the BigBoxStore ~$7 and go to town. I did 4 coats of amber over yellow cloth and it's almost a leather look. It's not padded like cork, but I wear gloves.
