Motobecane "Approved" ??

I've seen it on Schwinns, and know it means made by Bridgestone, Panasonic, or Giant, as a rule.

But I saw a 10 (ten) speed Motobecane today in very good shape, with the words "Motobecane Approved" underneath the logo on the downtube. It was a 10 speed, cotterless cranks, but I've no idea whether it had Suntour or Huret derailleurs.

I don't remember the model, but it was something like "sprint 10" on the downtube.

So... What's it mean? Any thoughts/guesses?

Thanks.

Probably that the frame and bicycle was contract manufactured for Motobecane and not by Motobecane.
