Univega Help (T-Mar) - Arrowpace?

I've brought up the Arrowpace in a couple of threads now. I've got it and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. Both my wife and I will ride it a bit and decide whether to keep it. The geometry seems too relaxed for my taste.

If I decide to sell, I'd like to have as much information as possible about the model. I'm trying to figure out where it is in the Univega pecking order. It'll help me set a price and answer questions.

The serial number looks like this:

DS
65223444

The "DS" is slightly higher and to the left of the numbers.

It's got chromoly main tubes and High-Ten stays
Sugino VP cranks
shimano SIS 600 RD and downtube shifters
Suntour AR FD
Araya 27 1/4 rims with KK SR hubs

There's an '86 stamped on the front hub and I'm guessing that may be the year.

There's pics in this thread:

Thanks !

I've never heard of an Arrowpace before. but I can tell you that unlike many Univega, it is not a Miyata manufactured frame. The SIS rear dearailleur, shifters (and presumibly freewheel) are later additions. The two tone paint suggests 1985-1987. The component s do fit with this era.

It's got safety levers and brazed-on down tube stops indicative that it originally came with stem shifters. The geometry is very relaxed and it uses 27" wheels. This, plus the components and frame materials suggest a entry level, sports touring model. Assuming this and the era, original value should have been somewhere between $200-$50 US.

Thanks T-Mar. The freewheel and chain looked practically brand new. On the other hand so did the rims, so I couldn't decide if some of the components were newer or if was just never ridden much. It did seem like an odd mix of components and yes, the cable stops hinted that it was intended to be a stem shifter.

Unfortunately the owner wasn't at the garage sale to answer any questions. I had a long internal debate over whether to buy the bike. Parts of the bike screamed "entry level", but alas, I was blinded by the excellent condition, the shimano 600, and the mere mention of chromoly ;-)

Live and learn.

A couple of new tires, some handle bar tape, and a little tuneup should let me break even, that is, unless my wife says she wants to keep it. It's an upgrade over her 32 year old pretty, but not so special Peugeot, which would probably fetch more money anyway, - since it's a Peugeot.

I just checked to the model number of the Shimano 600 RD. It's a 6208 which is from 1986, - the same year as several other components on the bike.
