Bikes: 2015 Specialized AWOL, 2006 Paul Frank Cruiser, 1987 Specialized Street Stomper, 1980 Trek 412, 1979 Raleigh Sport,

One of those came with the trek i bought. I liked the the color also as it was dark.

First time poster. I read with great interest about all the wonderful Fujis you all have. My only bike, and the one I have been riding since 1977 is a Fuji Finest, serial number K7A00605. That makes the date of manufacture Jan 1972 according to the data found in this thread. The only thing I can't figure out is the fact that it has Gran Compe sidepulls. All the catalog pictures show the 1972 Finest with sidepulls. It looks just like the '72 shown in post #228. Could the brakes have been swapped before I got it (I didn't buy it new), or did some of them come that way?

Anyway, I have tons of miles on this bike, and loads of component changes as well. I stripped the paint to reveal the chrome underneath. My newest set of wheels that I built are on Dura Ace hubs, and added a 7 speed cassette, Deore XT derailleurs, Shimano bar end shifters. Many years ago I had the spider drilled and turned the Mighty Comp double into a triple. I did a lot of touring on this bike and that was really necessary.

I don't do much touring anymore, and I'm about to retire the Fuji and get a modern frame.

This one will always be very dear to me.

Here are a few. Why did you want to see the fork crown?

Some of the '72's had a slightly different fork crown, more often seen on their track bikes or models for the domestic Japanese market. Here's a shot of my '72. sorry it's not a close up:

I think yours is worthy of a full on restoration rather than retirement! A year or so ago I had mine repainted and new decals made .. I'm glad I did .. it's going to be photographed in a few weeks and I'll post some pictures

Bikes: Club Fuji

I just picked up an Opus III. It may be a little large, measuring 59cm from center of top tube to center of bottom bracket (which I guess is actually 58cms, as they didn't come in 59cms..). Serial number is C453, making it a March 1984 model. Unfortunately it had been rebuilt and has none of the Suntour Superbe Pro components.

RIP S#:KC690113. Looks like March, 1986. Do they made all Club Fuji at the same facility "K" or its just an impression looking at other SNs?

It's fine, but his serial number page is needlessly complex and virtually useless without a clear listing of each serial format, as you provided; T-Mar.

That said, apologies for bumping this up, but a friend of mine asked me to date this oddity. There isn't a single letter in the serial number: Fuji Sprint; SN #77050068.

Even if it was 77O50068, it wouldn't fall into the codes given for months of manufacture, as listed on the Classic Fuji site:

I am working on a 1985 Team Fuji. The serial number is KJ403044 which indicates a December 1984 build.

Bikes: 85' Raleigh "Sportif", Fuji Sagres

Hi, I have been searching all day but I am unable to find a match to my bike.

Serial number: J2008987

https://i51.tinypic.com/2mmcxme.jpg

Many thanks.

P.S. It looks like an 80s Fuji Sagres

Down tube decal looks more early 90's.

Bikes: 85' Raleigh "Sportif", Fuji Sagres

I looked at the pictures on classicfuji and i think you're right. the font size and placement of the stickers are most similar to the bikes built in 1991. However, it doesn't look like any Sagres were built after 1988. What is interesting is on the head, there is a "made in Korea" sticker. Maybe that could explain it.

I have a whole series of Fuji catalogs beginning where ClassicFuji.com left off. I'll go thru them tonight and see if I can find a match for the Sagres

A few weeks ago I posted my recently completed '72 Finest in the "Japanese Bike" thread .. See post #306 above for a before shot, here's the what it looks like with new paint and decals:

Serial number is: 6G07350

Bikes: A few...

I bought this one new!

I bought this one new as a slightly scratched floor model in fall of '76. 23" framed, Blue, Special Road Racer K9I00300. I still ride it today! Still original paint, but just about every component has been replace except the handlebars, handlebar stem, brakes and the original Belt leather saddle!

Bought this one new in summer of '74 - F9B18529, Orange, Special Tourer. Stolen two months later. Replaced by same model, same color F9B18546. Sold to friend's sister when I bought the Special Road Racer listed above..

I can't figure out what this friggin thing is! it's driving me looney.
check out the photos.
the serial number suggests that it's a 1980 to 1985 frame. serial #IS513715 but the "S" obviously doesn't correspond to a month since the months are "A" through "L" (twelve letters). furthermore if this was correct then it'd be an 1985 model, but I don't see anything very similar in the 85 catalog.

Berylite, there's a few clues that suggest that may not be a Fuji. Only the very early Fujis (71-73) had the serial number on the seat tube. The top tube and chain stay braze on suggests that it's not from that period.

Is there a head badge or holes where a head bead would have been mounted? Whatever it is, looks like a very cool frame. More photos of the seat tube lugs, fork crown would be great!

There is no head badge nor holes where one might have been. The previous owner felt that it was Italian while the local bikeshop owner says it's probably a fuji. The rear rim looks to be original where as the front wheel is relatively new. there are also four digits on the bottom bracket "8118"

Beyrlbite ...

oh man, you have a very, very nice frame there ... not a Fuji, but not Italian . Should I keep you in suspense? I have one, serial number: IS 514 688.

ok, here's another:

Dawes-man is the go-to guy for the Katakura, I'm a newbie to the brand. Cross post it to the main C&V so others will see it, just to confirm.

Awesome, good for you.

As you already know from Scottryder, you have the same frame as both of us. Once they pop up, they don't stop, it seems...

Welcome to the club!
