Roadmaster history with Pacific
I just aquired a 1989 Roadmaster Scorcher for $5 at a yardsale, in great condition. Not bad for a commuter that will be ridden about 2 miles/day. I am wondering when Roadmaster was aquired by Pacific cycles. In other words, how much of a piece of crap did I buy? The components look rather low end, so I assume it's a Pacific vintage. Anyone have any info on the history. Thanks.

Roadmasters were crap well before Pacific came along and bought them. I remember having an old Roadmaster 10-speed back in 1985. It was new when I got it. I assembled it myself and over the next year learned how to constantly repair it myself. It fell apart almost a year (give or take a week) to the day my parents bought it for me.

Hey guys thanks for the info. I've been getting interested in collecting older bikes, and this forum will be a great resource. The Roadmaster will be riden into the ground, then I'll look for somethign a little more collectable. Peace.
