Finally did it....schellaced my bars!

Decided to give my Long Haul trucker some new wrap. The tape is Brooks and the shellac was your typical hardware store amber color. I put on three coats, two would have been pleanty. I have three rides on the bars so far, all in the rain: They feel great, not slick like I thought they might be.

Fabulous bars on a bike that is a rolling work of art. Thanks for showing it off.

Love the way the mudguards go so well with the handlebar colour...I need some of those mudguards. I really do.

Wow, - are those wooden mudguards/fenders? I didn't realise that they were available for bicycles. Tell me more

How would the shellac work with cork tape? I have some tan cork tape I'm going to use on my Continental project and that shellac looks really snazzy

Shellac works well with cork. It is a nice a cheap way to get the leather look.

I sure wish they would make the LHT is sage again.

I've got an article somewhere about making wooden mudguards for lightweight veteran cars and I'm sure the same basic principles would apply.

Man that sure looks good with that Brooks which is the same saddle I have. Thats it I'm gonna do it when I get the bars wrapped. This should be done in a warm environment I take it, say in a heated basement work area?

Thank you all for the kind words. The LHT is a great bike and a pleasure to ride. This was the first bike I built from the frame up; it was a great experience which I highly recomend.

If no bids meet his reserve price, Cody will relist the fenders with a BIN price of $60. That's how I got mine.

The hardest part is deciding which set is to be the crowning glory for one's bike...arghhh!

I haven't shown these pics for awhile, but here are my home-made wooden fenders. Not nearly as beautiful as Cody's, but the cost of materials was less than $10 (that's mostly for the stays; I used scrap cedar that I had in my basement). I don't have the bike anymore; now they're on a Raleigh Super Course that's going to get turned into a porteur with a wooden platform front rack to match the fenders.

Metal Cowboy I'll post this again somehow the first one got deleted. I see you are in Orting just a hop skip and jump from me in Sumner. Have you dealt with Brian at Trailside? He's been pretty helpful to me on my Continental project. I'll keep a lookout for that bike, do you ever ride the foothills trail?
