Paramounts Again...
Howdy All,
Just a question. A coworker recently gave me a Paramount stickered bike. Sometime in the past it has had a bad repaint. The only decal is on the downtube. The lugs are plain and by that I mean, non-nervex, and single scallop type. The drop-outs on the frame are not marked by any brand of tubing or otherwise, and the fork drop-outs are marked Tange TF. The other suspect thing is, the seat stays are the wrap around style at the seat cluster, and almost touch. Serial # on the BB shell reads "D900776" to me this does not really fit in any of the Paramount serial number sequences on the Waterford site. All this makes me think it was never a Paramount, maybe another brand. Does anybody here have any insight into what this bike might be? I dont have any photos yet, but can get some if anybody thinks it might help. Thanks in advance,
Chad

Pictures! Please! Yes, they help. But it does sound as if someone had some fun with a spare set of decals. The wrap-around seat stays sound very non-Shwinn to me.

I agree with Pastor Bob; the wrap-around seat stays scream "I'm not a Schwinn". Although the serial number could be Schwinn, it wouldn't be for a Paramount as the Paramounts had different serial numbering schemes than the mass produced bikes.
Pictures would be nice when you get the chance.

That would account for the Tange fork, but not for the wrap-around seat stays; the PDG Series Paramounts (road bikes, not MTBs) all had seat stays with faceted caps at the cluster similar to the Chicago and Waterford Paramounts.
Chad, we are talking about a road bike, right?

EDIT - Maybe it's an eighties Tempo? They had Tange TF fork dropouts and wrap-around seat stays (I just noticed that; live and learn). I swiped this photo off of eBay:
