Something I Stumbled Upon

So, I found myself wandering on Bainbridge Island yesterday...and I stumbled on probably the coolest shop I've ever been in.

Classic Cycles - https://www.classiccycleus.com/vintage/index.html

Literally, a regular shop with a museum inside. Tons of frames, parts and full bikes from the 20's, 30's and newer - and a tour to boot. Amazing shyte!

And....the owners were real nice and willing to chat. I could've spent a week there.

If you're ever in the neighborhood.....

Agreed. They have (or at least they did have) another location at Kingston. The really neat stuff was there, but it was not open when I was there. Too early in the season. This was a few years ago.

Looks great! If I'm ever in the neighborhood, I'll definitely drop by!

I haven't been on Bainbridge Island since I was a teenage kid. It was beautiful-I remember wishing I had a bike to go exploring on.

Gotta get back there one of these days!

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.

Sounds as if I will have to make the pilgrimage one of these days. I've never been to Bainbridge Island.

Walk off the ferry, up the hill to the first light. Take a left and come down a few hundred yards - a 5 minute walk from the ferry - it's on the right....

I'll have to see if I can't combine it with a birdwatching trip. Besides, that way Mr. East Hill won't know there's an ulterior motive .

Hmmm. Is this in an older looking building right near a bed and breakfast? If so, then you are describing the Kingston location. I know it says Bainbridge Island on the website and logo, but there are two locations. The Bainbridge Island location is where the pictures I shared were taken. So, East Hill, if you want to see the shop 55/Rad visited, you will need to be in Kingston.

No...it was definitely the Bainbridge Island location. The exit route I described pretty much describes 90% of all the ferry docks in in the San Juans.

Perhaps I should just visit both!

I could have visited the one in Kingston when I was there for the Kitsap Color Classic, but it would not have been open that early in the morning. I DNF the Classic due to a migraine, so I never got back to Kingston to check .

So, a birding trip with optional (errrr, mandatory) excursion to Classic Cycles, preferably BI location.

And Rad, you mean to tell us that you were here in Puget Sound and did not stop by for the Big Soos Creek Meet and Greet this past Sunday? You bum !

I'm up there quite often actually, having lived there and still having family there. Just never time to do what I want to do...unless we happen to stumble on a great shop. Sorry I missed the event....

It's all right, just teasing about the meet and greet .

Bikes: Still have a few left!

There is only one shop, it relocated from Kingston to Bainbridge. I lived in Kingston for a while & the shop was "Kingston Classic Cycles" then. I visited Kingston about a year ago & friends told me the shop had moved to Bainbridge. Don

Okay...I think I have this figured. Googled "bike shop Bainbridge Island, WA" and got this.

I believe result B is the one 55/Rad visited and result C is the one I visited. Notice they have the same phone number, same website, but slightly different names. So it appears there are two locations in the city. Perhaps the one in Kingston is now closed. No matter what, it is a great shop to visit.

The owners a jerk. the Museum is neat, but B.I.Cycle is much better in terms of service.
