Univega Grand Primio

I have and '81 Univega Grand Primio which has had the original wheel replace with sew-ups. Does anyone know if this originally had 27" or 700c rims (or even better, what brand??).

I would agree with Chuckk, some came with 27" and some with 700C wheels. From what I've seen, 27" was the more common wheel size with 700C's used on the go-fast racing style bikes. Araya was the rim of choice. PG.

If the originals were replaced with sew-ups, I'd guess they were 700c unless the brakes were replaced as well with much shorter reach models. Fwiw, my mid-80s Univega Competizione has 700c wheels with very tight clearances. No way that thing ever came with 27 inchers.

Mine came with 700C wheels. I love this bike! It's a great fixed gear winter bike & all-arounder.

The wheels pictured aren't original. I checked the garage, and I think the set it came with had Araya narrow 700C rims on Sunshine (Sanshin) Gyromaster hubs.
