Bare steel frame prep

So I've got this mid eighties steel road frame sitting in the shed needing paint. The frame has been stripped for a few months, but doesn't show any obvious rust. Still, is there any special prep I should do before primering due to the time it's been sitting nakid?

Yes, completely sand it down again.

I would at least wipe it down with a tack cloth. Those cloths are gold for preping for primer/paint.

If you are concerned with rust, auto paint stores sell quarts of Rust-mort, a sandible[sp?] primer that nuetrualizes rust and turns it grey. Used on a 65 chevy with great results.
