27" tires on sale
I have a project Schwinn World Sport I picked up last weekend and needed tires (and cables, housing, ad infinitum.) I think these should work out nicely:

I bought a pair for a recently acquired 82 motobecane mirage sport. I have about a month on them and like them a lot, no complaints. They are a better quality tire than the cheapy kenda 27's as far as I can tell. I will likely purchase a pair of the kevlar ones for $9.99 for my next change.

Tricky, Your thread title says 27" tires but the link is for 700c tires.

I use these a lot. They may be inexpensive, but they ride very well.

The Performance GT2 700c's are $#@#@$ impossible to get evenly seated, and I no longer even try.
For 700c's for flip bikes I get Continental Ultra Sports and just get a price match from Performance to the lowest web price from the bots, usually about $12 each, shop at Tue lunch and get another 10% off. With the volume that Performance buys, I don't feel bad either.

I just ordered a set of 700, and two sets of 27x1 1/8's. All six tires tax and shipping it was $53 and change. ONE set of the lowest priced 700's at my LBS's would cost more. Hard to beat three sets of tires for that price.,,,,BD

I've had the same experience, very good for the low $$. IMHO, they're better than the slightly more expensive Kenda, gumwalls. I use them on bikes I'm flipping where I have to replace dry rotted tires.

As long as the hub spacing matches, and the dishing of the rear wheel is the same, no issues. 
Worst case on the dishing is that you might have to have the wheel redished

In my experience the non standard Schwinn sizes stopped at the chrome steel rims on their 1 3/8's and fatter. Even the Conti 27's seem to fit regular tires. I have yet to run across any alloy Schwinn rim that is an odd size.,,,,BD

I think I took a wrong turn somewhere..... what do hub spacing and wheel dishing have to do with whether a tire will fit?

My opinion is those tires are crap. I have some that are brand new on a bike I just bought and they already have a bulge in them. You may put them on a bike you flip, but I don't think anyone would really want to ride those tires. Whoever buys the bike will have to replace them.

There are bad and good tires in all levels and brands of tires. They can't all be perfect? If one slips through QC on the line, that's all it takes. It's rare but it happens. It may have a thin area on the rubber. or sidewall.,,,,BD

Bikes: Seriously downsizing.
I mounted up a pair of these marked 700c x 25 with no problems at all. But they do look more like 700x23.
Someone also posted that the 27 1/4" were more like 27 1/8" as well.
