I acquired this Bridgestone Last week, Cleaned it up this past weekend. Replaced tires/tubes, bar tape, derailler cablesPrevious owner neglected it and it sat outside for an unknown amount of years. I still have to give her a bath and get those hideous, beyond restore pedals swapped out, but i've made some progress. Im keeping it the original color with original equipment.

Been to a few LBS and no one sells gum-wall tires anymore. Are they online-only now?

Basso Gap

I just finished my Basso Gap. Well, except for a white Regal and a little touch-up painting on some scratches, and one of the brake cable guides was off and hanging on the rear cable housing when I got it. Not sure how to fix that yet.... I had intentions of fitting a complete Campy 10speed drivetrain, not for the mega-gears so much as the convenience that the Ergo's provide. On a fluke, and because I am an odd sort, I thought I would see how the 10speed brifters worked with the existing 6speed stuff. To my huge surprise, it works like a charm. 100% smooth!!!! As well as I remember my Dura Ace 7700 stuff shifting...Shifting clean and crisp under power, climbing, you name it. I have Veloce brifters, first generation Chrous derailleurs, Shimano 600 6speed free-wheel 13-23t, not sure of the chain...

Chrous/MA40 (the ones with the red label) wheelset, Chorus b-bkt, 10sp Centaur dbl crankset, NOS Dura Ace cableset, Cinelli 1R stem, Cinelli 66-40 Bars, Chorus headset, Veloce brakeset. All thats missing is a nice white Regal to top it off....

anyway, just thought I would share. I posted before when I first got the Basso, thought I would bring everyone up to date. This project was made so much easier, and turned out nicer, thanks to the advice and answers to my many dumb questions and posts. Thanks everyone...

HSean -

That little folder looks 100% better.

You must be careful as they are habit forming.

I sold the rack, it (IMO) didn't fit the look I was going after. I like the way the Pletsch rack curves down, plus it's wider for more carry room. The flaming eye decal was an ebay find. It just happened to be just the right size for the tank. Overall I'm happy with how it came out. I just need to replace the pedals and find a nice chrome chain guard and I'll be happier. Thanks!

Here's a photo with the original rack on it...
