Thanks Dave. I finally got my cantilevered Trek. It seems like a lifetime I've been searching for one my size.,,,,BD

And another after. HATED the black Bar cons. Sloppy shifting, and couldn't hit all the gears in the rear. Problem solved! The bars look SO much cleaner IMHO.... Now, to find my wrap. It's begging for a thinline set of VO fenders. (Homer Simpson voice) MMMmmm...Looxs NL Mondi panniers.

Dang that looks great!

I am a sucker for Jubilee derailleurs. What paint did you use?

AFA the thin chain, if it works use it. If it gets stuck in between, just get an 8 speed chain instead, or a vintage regina or whatever bushed chain off ebay.

Some nice before and afters! I keep forgetting to take pictures of before as I get so caught up with the cleanup/redurb process...

Before - Very little wear except for tired, flaking decals and old rubber:

After - Matching Bar tape, Velocal decals done in matching magenta, saddle, pedals, and Grand Prix Classic tires.

I was so excited to find the bike and anxious to work on it that I failed to take more pictures.

1986 Cannondale SR400. Got it Friday evening, and had it redone by Saturday at dark. NICE riding bike!! Campy levers replaced the hoodless and ill fitting Aero Gran Compes. The reach is too far out for me, and I think they look like they were designed at 3 in the morning the night before being pitched to upper management.,,,BD

They weren't hoodless really, but they were gummed up badly, and torn. Oddly enough, I usually can't stand Campy levers either, but they worked with these bars. Very comfy hoods, and I can reach them easily from the drops.,,,,BD

BEFORE Good frame and fork but the package was awful.

AFTER Biggest changes were rims and saddle. Rest of the parts cleaned up great. Yes that is the same seatpost!

Nice transformation Thomas. Being Australian, the kangaroo emblem intrigues me. What is the back story of this?

Thanks Steve. Read enough Ironman hype on BF so I had to try one for myself. Not quite as inventive as your Witcomb which I think is a terrific execution.

The frame came to me painted that way. I ordered two headbadge`s from England, and the 531 Reynolds decals off of eBay. I made the red panels from vinyl to help liven things up.

Here's my '76 Masi as I received it.

And here it is after.

It had some large spots of paint missing and a little surface rust that I sanded down and then touched up. I replaced the early Dura-Ace brakes with the proper Campy brakes, installed correct vintage bars and stem, all new cables and housings, etc.
