Awesome find! I found almost the exact same bike at a flea market for $5, but there are some minor differences. My bike came with the big chrome fenders and a leather saddle with SPRINT stamped into it. As for the rest I think its the same- SPRINT shift levers, hubs, derailleurs, and sky blue paint! My bike came with a bike license on the rear fender that expired on Jan. 1, 1967. I don't know if that helps at all but its probably safe to say that yours IS a 1965 and mine is possibly a 1966.

The Varsity tourist came stock with fenders. You could get fenders added to a sports model. Both '65 and '66 were spec'd with a Sprint branded leather saddle. They often didn't survive for 40+ years.
