Need Trek decals: What to do now?

I recall a few months ago there was a discussion that mswantak had fallen off the face of the earth. I believe some BF members had outstanding orders with Mike that were never filled and emails had gone unreturned. At the time, I didn't pay too much attention to it because, well, I wasn't in the market for restoration decals.

Except that I am now. I'm having my '89 Trek 660 redone and I'd like to restore the decals. Vintage-trek.com specifically recommended mswantak. I emailed Skip and asked if he had any other recommendations in light of what had happened. Skip wasn't aware of the trouble and didn't have any other recommendations. Trek themselves were no help. They won't provide decals although they will send you some stickers. I have a feeling they're all the new (and ugly IMO) style, which I could probably just pick up at the LBS anyway.

If I can't find decent reproductions I may just leave it naked, but I sure would love to restore the decals (especially the cool eagle head True Temper logo on the top tube).

Do you guys have any recommendations?

Thanks! I saw that site. He doesn't have any Trek decals but I think I may shoot him an email and see if he can get any.

Dirtdrop: So, is he back? Not wanting to rehash the whole thing, but what's the deal there?

I have some NOS Trek decals from the 80's . It is a wrap for the DT with a yellow made in USA band on each end. I have Metallic Blue and Metallic silver backgrounds. I willfind my scan of it when I get home and post a picture. I have sold a few and some of them only wanted to cut the gold outlined lettering from the decal.

fond a pic of what I have

You don't also happen have it in gray and yellow, as pictured, do you? If you did, I'd be interested in buying one.
Thanks,

I have a set of Mike Swantak Trek decals. Unfortunately they are designed for a 1985 Trek 520. The Trek decal is the same only a different color.

Bikes: I hate bikes!

I got my decals from Daniel Sinif. (see below) He was listed on the vintage trek website and Skip sent me his info.

Bikes: all diamond frames

The decals on your bike should be pretty easy to replicate in Photoshop and then print on inkjet water transfer paper. I did these on my 1500.

I just got a set of seat tube decals from JR for my 1980 414 and they look great. I think he already had the art, but it only took 2 weeks and was very reasonable.
