prep for nail polish touch up?

I'm about to use some nail polish to touch up a frame with really rough paint, but no real rust yet.

This is for protection rather than looks, so I'm not too worried about making it pretty, but is there anything I should do to prep other than a good wipe down with degreaser?

rubbing alcohol (80% isopropanol) or a tack cloth will get rid of the dirt/grease on it so the paint can adhere better and last longer.
