Interesting Paramount spotted at LBS
Last night I was killing a bit of time waiting for my LBS to true up one of my rear wheels (which my own efforts at fixing was only making it worse) and I make a cruise through the back of the shop where the used inventory is. There was the 52cm `86 Dave Moulton Fuso with full Dura Ace, a number of Serottas of varying ages, a Fuji which I couldn't tell if it was originally a flat bar or a later convert, couple of low end Schwinns, along with the usual lightly used moderns.
Then another row of bikes caught my eye, hanging even higher in the rafters, well beyond my reach. The first bike in this row had a 3-tone Red, White & Blue paint job and could make out the words Paramount boldly displayed on several surfaces including down the front of the fork blades. Appeared that it was fitted with 7400 series Dura-Ace so it would be a mid to late 80's bike, but was a very different paint scheme than I usually see on these later Schwinn Paramounts and my searches online have resulted in nothing close to it.
Didn't have a camera with me, though might have to go back to see if my digital camera will grab a decent shot of it this weekend. I know I have the zoom to get a close up, but the lighting, well, not the best.

I seem to recall a red/white/blue schemed Paramountain bike, and yah late 80's.
Would that be one of the PDG builds?
52cm Fuso? was that RBM ( I really don't want to know but. . . ).

Yes, RBM Richardson. I'm guessing its a PDG of one level or another, but this scheme was quite different than the paramountain, and this was a road bike. If memory serves the Paramountain was more of a fade job, and fairly sure this was more of a solid line color seperation. By the full DA kit and the paint scheme I'm wondering if it was a team or team replica of some sort, maybe a special edition? etc etc?

Is this the one with "Richardson Bikemart" painted on the frame?
I love looking at the used bikes in the back. I wonder how negotiable the prices are? They seem to turn over that inventory quickly despite the being marked typically high. I've seen lots of nice bikes there, but I have only once seen a "deal". I had to sleep on it. Was gone the next day when I went back!

Jon, did the frame look like THIS? If so, it's a 1986 Team Icy Hot frame.
Rammer - didn't get a close enough look at the frame (it was hanging probably 10ft over my head) to see RBM painted anywhere on it, though it was possible. The colors and the "Paramount" down the front of the fork blades and down tube is what I recall the most.

Glad you like! I'm sure it's been posted around here before, but I stumbled onto it in the Schwinn forums when I was researching Paramounts. I ended up buying and rebuilding an old Series 3 Paramount. I've only gone around the block on it but it seems to be a super sweet ride.
I posted 1991-2000, but there's also 1980-1990 https://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1980_1990/index.html

Photos!

I see what could be a painter's logo on the chainstay, so this could be a custom paint job. Don't recognize the initials though.

Very distinctive paint scheme, Jon. I've never seen any like it.

Yeah, the words "RBM Loaner" look painted on the downtube, and the intials on the chain stay makes me think it's a custom aftermarket job.

I'm going to inquire to one of the long timers next time I'm over there not in riding gear about it. It IS my size... or so it looks.

Looks to be my size, too. Let me know if you pass.

I FOUND IT! I FOUND IT!
Check this out: https://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/v/...geViewsIndex=1 (didn't hot link the img as it states that the photo is in the gallery by permission of the original owner and can not be used without permission) ... but it is the same paint scheme!

Good detective work, Jon. At least I was right about it being an Icy Hot team bike.
